The questionnaire survey form has been sent to 60 essay suppliers for Wal-mart, they are picked from three different cities, which are Beijing, shanghai and Shenzhen; there are 20 suppliers chosen from each city by the agreement of Wal-mart China. On the other hand, questionnaire survey form has also been sent to the 52 supplier management officers from Wal-Mart Shanghai sourcing department, and 44 of them have sent back the answers timely.

The interview has taken on the suppliers of Wal-Mart in China in some major market, which covers Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Zhengzhou and Chengdu. And there are overall ten suppliers have attended for the interview. On the other hand, five supplier management officers from five cities are invited to attend the interview to determine the difficult they met and the specific supplier management strategies they adopted towards the China market. Only the suppliers and officers in Shanghai have attended for the face-to-face interview in Wal-Mart Shanghai office, the others are interviewed by carrying out telephone interview due to the long-distance traveling could not be achieved.

 Porter's Five Forces analysis
Porter has firstly announced his Five Forces analysis in 1979, which is a great framework for the industry analysis and business strategy development developed (Porter, 1979http://www.51fabiao.org/dxessay/ ), and is also an important tool for assessing the potential for profitability in an industry (Porter, 2008). In his model, there are five main aspects which are illustrated in Figure 4-6; three forces are from 'horizontal' competition, which are the threat of substitute products, the threat of established rivals, and the threat of new entrants; and another two forces are from 'vertical' competition, such as the bargaining power of suppliers and the bargaining power of customers.
